The year 2024 marks a significant milestone for Dactyl Group – we celebrated our 10th anniversary! Over the past decade, we’ve experienced an incredible array of changes, growth, and technological challenges that have shaped us into a company keeping pace with modern trends and delivering cutting-edge technological solutions. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the key moments of our journey.

The Beginning of Our Journey

Once Upon a Time… Our story began in 2014 with a big bang that marked the birth of Dactyl Group. Our passionate founders, connected via Skype at the time, decided to create something unique. Something meaningful.

Our first major project was a web platform for the Slovak Banner Portal. The resulting application was designed to serve as a unifying portal for companies, enabling registration and visibility – something similar to the business directories of that era.

This project was a tremendous learning experience for us at the time and a springboard into the world of development.

The Turbulent Evolution of Our Company Website

Our website has always been a reflection of our identity and has undergone significant changes over the years. Do you still remember the first version? It was simple and focused mainly on mobile applications, servers and design.

Over time, we embarked on developing our own Content Management System (CMS), which became the foundation not only for our website but also for clients' e-shops.

Here are the key milestones of our website:

• 2015: We Begin Developing the DactylShop CMS
  In 2015, we started building it and by 2017, we completed the first fully functional version.
• 2017: We Launch the Development of DactylCMS
  In 2017, we began developing the new DactylCMS system, with the first production version going live on August 13, 2018. It was a revolution in content and project management!
• 2018–2022: Continuous Evolution of Our CMS
  Our CMS underwent constant development during this period. The third version was released in 2018, but version 4.0.0 in 2022 was a game-changer – complete redesign, new features, and a modern look.

Technological Milestones: Keeping Up with the Times

They say technology never sleeps – and neither do we. Here are the most important moments when we decided to take a leap forward:

• 2017: we moved from hosting applications on our own hardware to using data centers with Virtual Private Servers (VPS).
• 2018: We adopted Docker for local development, and later (from 2022), we began using it in production as well.
• 2021–2022: We transitioned from PHP SSR frontends to modern technologies like React and Next.js.
• 2022: We completed our first project using Laravel, which replaced the previously used Yii2 framework.
• 2023: We fully transitioned to cross-platform mobile application development using React Native and Expo.dev.

Dactyl Today: Where We Are Now and What’s Next

Every milestone on our journey has been an opportunity for growth and learning. Today, Dactyl Group is a company built on solid foundations.

Our 10th anniversary is a great opportunity not only to look back but also to set new goals. We see the future in innovation – with modern technologies, an experienced team, and a clear vision, we will continue to create revolutionary solutions that meet the needs of our clients.
