Dactyl values or Why is important to care about company culture

Do you like going to work? Do you have great colleagues to whom you can rely on? We do! It is a joint effort to clearly define and set our company values. Don't underestimate their importance - they have a positive impact on internal communication, the atmosphere of the working environment and overall productivity.
And how does it work here? You'll find out in a moment. We will share with you our journey towards our own Dactyl values.
Company values are a necessity
Successful projects and enthusiastic clients are the goal of every good company. But how to achieve the best results? It all starts with building a healthy company culture and effective communication.
The key to success is clearly defined and adhered to company values.
Do you recall all the clichés that mostly stay on paper? Don't worry, we're not going to be impressed by those.
What are company values?
We can think of them as norms or sets of commonly agreed rules that we want to apply in our working relationships. They have a clear vision, they make sense to us and they guide the whole team.
Why is it important?
They help to create a positive and functioning working environment in the company. They determine the unique atmosphere, communication, commitment and mood within the company. They determine the satisfaction and productivity of employees and, inherently, the success of the company.
Without clear values, you're setting yourself up for trouble
"But those are just empty words and motivational slogans anyway, right?"
Absolutely not.
The absence of corporate values leads to a number of problems. Within the team, they are often characterized by indifference, ambiguity or cluelessness. In extreme cases, even small misunderstandings can lead to unnecessary conflicts.
Such a company is destined to fail.
Without clearly defined values, it is difficult to build or mediate company culture and their absence is reflected further down the line.
If a company is unable to define its values, it will not succeed in finding new colleagues. Confusing interviews and vague presentations will certainly not attract suitable candidates.
It is hard for anyone to agree with the philosophy of a company that doesn't really know where it is going.
Dactyl values
Our goal was and is clear: to determine exactly where we want to go as a whole. No false expectations. Of course, this cannot be done without a firm definition of our own Dactyl values.
Although we are a technology-focused company, our values emphasize teamwork and the comfort of our colleagues. The result is a reliable compass whose needle is balanced toward the values with which our Dactyl mates identify.

On the workshop to Dactyl by jump
Every company has its own ways and means to define its own values. We started with a joint workshop, to which all Dactyl mates were invited. We made sure that everyone had a voice, including our remote colleagues. The workshop was therefore a hybrid.
We divided the activity into 2 main parts.
The aim of the first activity was to identify the moments, behaviours and experiences that we value in ourselves. Everything that makes Dactyl to Dactyl. We also focused on the less enjoyable moments that we want to avoid in the future.
In this way we effectively checked how we perceive the values, where we need to add and where we should reduce.
The second part was devoted to an open debate. Communication is always the first priority. We discussed selected moments and used them to find the desired values, which we appreciate in our work environment.

That's it, we've moved on once again.
We have successfully defined the core values that we want to follow and that are our own. By tuning in to the same wave, we can first and foremost improve internal communication. We already get along, we can rely on each other and we deal with each other on an equal footing.
How would we describe the current working environment at Dactyl? It exudes positive energy, confidence, friendly spirit and tremendous productivity. In short, full of Dactyl values that we are proud of. We ourselves are curious to see where else this journey will take us!
