Virtual technician: Multifunctional assistant for logistics
We were tasked with creating a web system for the Austrian company Innofreight. The company takes care of the development, mediation and operation of optimized solutions for freight logistics on the tracks. But it is not limited to Austria. Exactly opposite. It has clients and branches throughout Europe.
We wanted the new web application to be a user-friendly helper, especially for operators and technicians. However, this assignment involved a number of complications and challenges. Thanks to the proactive approach and professional project management by Dactyl, everything was solved and the result is a modern and functional web application. The main business activity of our client is the creation of innovative wagons, containers and unloading systems. And we have to point out that it works really nicely. But it is important not to rest on your laurels. A company of this caliber is well aware of this.

What exactly was the goal of the assignment?
It was necessary to come up with a sophisticated web-based system that would help to improve reporting and troubleshooting of supplied machines.

The distance does not stop the virtual assistant either
But let's look at the main thing without further temporize - the process of the whole development.
First, we had to clarify the whole vision and focus on who the system would serve the most. Innofreight uses its own techniques at work. Why? Unfortunately, nothing can do without occasional breakdowns, and the same goes for the supplied machines. The technicians must then arrive directly at the client and take care of the problem on the spot. Of course, sometimes a personal presence is a necessity.
But not always. Many cases could be resolved remotely. And that's why we're here.
Our web system aims to resolve similar situations remotely. This saves time, worries and resources for technicians and clients. Efficiently and most importantly fast.
From the first steps to the actual implementation
The virtual technician was finally able to see the light of day soon.
First, we created basic product parameters with the client during the workshop, from which we were able to bounce. Then we honed them to perfection in wireframe design, functional specifications and prototype.
Prototype design was especially important. The planned product was a complete novelty for the client. We made sure that everything not only worked perfectly, but that it was also perfectly understandable. We proceeded step by step and resolved any ambiguities during the process.
Finally, we were able to get into the realization itself.
Great opportunity for modern technology
It wouldn't be us if we didn't find a challenge in everything. We have newly chosen the React technology for the front-end part of the project. One of the modern solutions, that we started using at Dactyl Group.
We were satisfied with the result. In the course we had to adapt and adjust quite a few of our processes. That didn't stop us. On the contrary - thanks to this cooperation we have another great experience.
When it comes to the latest technologies, we also put extra care on web optimization for tablets. Technically and user-wise. We know very well the need to have easy access to the system on site.
